Global Ports Holding (GPH), the world’s largest cruise port operator, has signed a 30-year concession agreement with the Government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines for the development and operation of St. Vincent Cruise Port in Kingstown, the country’s capital and main port.

The agreement follows a Memorandum of Understanding signed in June 2026. The signing ceremony took place on October 26th at Kingstown Cruise Ship Berth, in the presence of Prime Minister Dr. Godwin Friday and senior government officials. Subject to the fulfilment of the agreement’s conditions, GPH is expected to begin port operations in the first quarter of 2027.

The port is forecast to welcome 250,000+ cruise passengers during the 2026-2027 season, providing a foundation for further growth. GPH plans to introduce a phased investment programme to modernise port infrastructure, increase berthing capacity for larger cruise ships and improve the passenger experience. The company will also work with the government and local stakeholders to develop shore excursions, support local businesses and extend the economic benefits of cruise tourism to communities across the destination.

GPH Chairman and CEO Mehmet Kutman said the agreement would combine the company’s international expertise and investment capabilities with the destination’s potential to develop a modern and sustainable cruise port. He also highlighted the objective of generating long-term economic benefits for local businesses and communities.

Mike Maura Jr., Regional Director of GPH Americas, said the company would draw on its Caribbean port management experience, including operations in San Juan and Nassau, while adapting its approach to St. Vincent’s particular characteristics. The priorities will include improving the passenger experience, strengthening the destination’s appeal to cruise lines and creating opportunities for local businesses and communities.
