Celebrity Cruises' President and CEO Lisa Lutoff-Perlo revealed that when its Celebrity Solstice ship arrives in Sydney for the beginning of its 6th season next week, it will offer same-sex marriages.

She explained that Celebrity cruise ships were registered in Malta and the Maltese parliament had voted 66-1 to legalise this kind of marriages.

The move could be seen as controversial, as Australia votes on the issue, but Ms Lutoff-Perlo said that Celebrity was proud to be the world's first cruise line to offer same sex marriage.

She added that Australia was Celebrity Cruises’ 3rd largest market, with loyal following.

Lisa Lutoff-Perlo presented the new Celebrity Edge ships shaping the future of the cruise line, and announced US$400 million refurbishment program for the rest of the fleet.
