Carnival Corp. & plc announced it had completed a multi-million-dollar redesign and upgrade of Port Everglades's Cruise Terminal 2 in Fort Lauderdale. The terminal is exclusively used by company's Princess Cruises brand and now features more comfortable pre-boarding areas, more streamlined departure design, movie theater, and interactive experiences.

The transformation includes addition of Carnival's proprietary Experiential Internet of Things (xIoT) network, activated via Ocean Medallion. As a result, passengers sailing on Medallion Class vessels will enjoy expedited boarding and personalized arrival experience the minute they enter the terminal.

Tagalongs are digital companions created and personalized by guests through using the SocialOcean app, available via Apple App Store/GooglePlay. Cruisers can select from among 3 sea creatures – Butterfly Fish, Sea Turtle or Seahorse – to reflect their mood and personality or mood, then further customize Ocean Tagalong by color, pattern, body shape, markings and more.

Ocean Tagalongs take center stage on Carnival's Ocean Portal screen in the center of the terminal as the avatars of passengers in the immediate area appear in an animated ocean setting which creates a nice photo moment.

For those who want to stay connected prior to boarding the cruise, Terminal 2 already features Carnival Corp.'s new MedallionNet game-changing connectivity service which delivers industry's best Wi-Fi experience.

That unprecedented connectivity lets guests enjoy company's portfolio of innovative mobile games before or after boarding. PlayOcean Everywhere offers 4 social casino games which can be played anywhere at any time via virtual currency.

On the first floor, Carnival guests can relax in brand's OceanView Theater – a cozy cinema that features the Ocean Original travel series transporting viewers to exotic places and introduces them to interesting people who live there.

The 2nd level of the terminal offers picturesque views of the Intracoastal Waterway of Fort Lauderdale and the pretty Princess Cruises vessels docked for departure.

It includes another Ocean Tagalong experience allowing guests to direct the "creatures" through several screens by moving their hands and arms to control swimming motions and directions, as passengers prepare for boarding.

Regal Princess will be the first to depart from the redesigned terminal, as she begins a number of preview cruises that introduce Ocean Medallion Vacations.
