Fort Madison (Iowa) city officials announced they are considering the building of a new Mississippi River dock, in order to serve as a river cruise stop.

Fort Madison IA came to terms in April to fund and complete the Depot project, that included a new cruise passenger platform situated in the historic renovated depot. Currently, they are looking to construct a dock that will allow Viking Cruises USA to make Fort Madison a port of call when the company begins its Mississippi River schedule.

The City Council will discuss the project and the USD 1,2 million to build a dock which could bring hundreds of thousands of visitors to Fort Madison annually. Viking Cruises is investing a USD 0,5 million into the new project.
