Crew Member Overboard from Vision of the Seas

A crewmember of Royal Caribbean's Vision of the Seas fell from the ship into the water and died at Port Livorno on Thursday, September 5. 

At the time of the accident, the 26-year-old Philippine national was working on Vision's starboard side at her berth at Pier 47 in Livorno. He fell into the water between the cruise liner and an adjacent cargo vessel, Star Juventas, local media reported.

Livorno fire brigade and the office of the harbormaster launched a search for the victim. Fire department divers recovered the body. An investigation has been launched into what caused the accident. 

At 7 pm, Vision OTS departed from Livorno towards Civitavecchia. The ship is currently on a 12-day Mediterranean cruise roundtrip from homeport Barcelona (itinerary September 3-15).
