Sri Lanka Resumes Ferry Service with India

Sri Lanka announced it is keen to resume ferry service with India. Sudarshana Gunawardana (Prime Minister's Office) revealed that the matter had been noted at a meeting between a visiting Indian delegation and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.

The politician Kanimozhi Karunanidhi (daughter of the former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister) has met Prime Minister Wickremesinghe for talks in Colombo Sri Lanka.

At the meeting, the Prime Minister noted the interest of Sri Lanka's government to resume the passenger ferry service. The service was commenced in 2011 (inter-linking Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu and Colombo), but was suspended because of insufficient traffic.
