Carnival Cruise Line selected one of the most popular TV hostesses ever – Vanna White – as godmother for the newbuild Carnival Panorama when she is officially christened during her ceremony in Long Beach CA on December 10, 2019.
Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line, said that Vanna had been "that welcoming face, cheering on and watching over Wheel of Fortune contestants for decades" and they loved the fact that Vanna would be doing the same for Carnival Panorama, her passengers and crew, as the ship's godmother. Duffy added that every night, millions of Americans welcomed Vanna into their homes and she was beloved.
Carnival Panorama departed from Fincantieri shipyard in Italy on November 1 and is en route to Long Beach for the naming ceremony on December 10 and inaugural cruise December 11. She is the first new ship Carnival Cruise Line has deployed to the West Coast in twenty years, and is the 3rd in Carnival's Vista Class, joining sisterships Carnival Horizon and Carnival Vista.
Following an inaugural 3-day sailing, Carnival Panorama will sail on year-round 7-day Mexican Riviera voyages from Long Beach CA, December 14, departing on Saturdays to Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan, and Cabo San Lucas.
