The cruise tourism development strategy of Tangier yielded positive results, with a total of 14.3% increase in ship stopovers at the port between 2018-2019. The SGPTV (Tangier City Port Management Company) predicts a 16% increase in 2020.

This strategy aims to present Morocco's Tangier as a flagship destination for the cruise industry on an international scale.

Since undertaking the new strategy, Tangier City Port has improved its reputation among ship owners who note the cruise port’s excellent service and hospitality during stopovers, SGPTV announced. The source adds that the Tangier City Port was committed to the cruise industry. The port showed its commitment via membership to the two main cruise associations, MedCruise and CLIA.
