Viking's new travel brand Viking River Cruises USA released details of its holiday-themed voyages on Mississippi River. Scheduled to launch in December 2022, the voyage's highlights include Cajun cuisine, light shows and VIP access to Graceland (from Memphis TN).

The new 8-day "Mississippi Holiday Season" itinerary begins with overnights in Memphis for music- and history-themed tours ashore. Then starts the scenic cruising down the river with port calls Vicksburg MS and Natchez MS. The voyage ends in Port NOLA (New Orleans) where travellers explore the city prior to heading back home.

Viking River Cruises USA currently offers 4x other itineraries on its first newbuild riverboat (Viking Mississippi), but this is the only in December 2022 that brings holiday cheer with seasonal perks like a visit to Graceland which is an exclusive offer to Viking passengers only. On day two of the voyage, travellers have the chance to admire the Christmas decor of the popular estate prior to enjoying a private dinner. There is also included a visit to Elvis Presley's mansion.

Viking announced the Mississippi River cruises in late-March 2020 - at the height of the pandemic.

Though the program starts in 2022, a number of departures sold out shortly after the announcement and Viking added more departure dates (including in 2023) in response to the demand. Fares start at USD 4000 per person (double occupancy) and include a complimentary tour at each port of the itineraries.
