TUI Cruises announced that its Mein Schiff 6 sailings from Greece had been cancelled.

The decision came after the government of Greece ordered a state lockdown with curfews for 3 weeks starting November 6. The cruise line was able to secure a special permit for one more sailing starting November 8, 2020, with the upcoming trip being only a panoramic sailing.

According to TUI, the Greek government had announced a COVID-related lockdown that would take effect from Saturday, November 7.

"Due to the short-term nature and on the basis of our hygiene and health concept, we have received a special permit to carry out the trip to Greece from November 8th to 14th as a “blue trip” without shore excursions. Unfortunately, with a heavy heart, we have to cancel the other planned cruises to Greece that start on November 14th, 21st and 28th."

Mein Schiff 6 cruise ship

TUI had previously canceled cruises on Mein Schiff 1 from Kiel due to Germany's lockdown.

After the cancelations of Mein Schiff 6 cruises, the line will operate only one ship with passengers. Mein Schiff 2 is due to start the winter season in the Canaries departing from Las Palmas on 7- and 14-night Blue Voyages.
