Viking Cruises announces new Mediterranean itineraries for summer 2021

Viking OCEAN plans to expand its Mediterranean deployment during summer 2021, adding a 3rd ship with homeporting in Valletta Malta.

Part of the company’s Welcome Back itinerary collection, Viking Star will join sisterships Viking Sea and Viking Venus and will sail the new 11-day itinerary "Malta and the Western Mediterranean".

Following the addition of the new voyage, vaccinated passengers now have 3 new options for experiencing the Mediterranean between July-early October 2021.

Vacationers on Malta & the Western Mediterranean itinerary are due to overnight in Valletta and then head to Sicily, Italy, and Spain, visiting Messina, Naples (Pompeii), Rome (from Civitavecchia), Livorno (Florence/Pisa), Genoa, Barcelona, and returning to Valletta.

Guests on the Malta & Adriatic Jewels itinerary overnight in Valletta and then head to Montenegro and Croatia, visiting Kotor, Dubrovnik, Split, Zadar, Sibenik, return to the Maltese archipelago, with a call at Gozo Island and finally sail back to Valletta.

Passengers on the Malta & Greek Isles Discovery itinerary also overnight in Valletta and then head to Greece, visiting Kalamata, Athens (Piraeus), Santorini, Rhodes, Souda-Chania, and return to Valletta.

The news follows Viking's recent announcement of initial Welcome Back Mediterranean, England, Iceland, and Bermuda voyages beginning in May, as well as the restart of European river cruises in July 2021. Last week, Viking named its newest ship Viking Venus, which is currently sailing in England with passengers.
