Port Everglades (Fort Lauderdale, Florida) saw a cruise comeback Saturday evening, July 31, when RCI-Royal Caribbean’s liner Odyssey of the Seas set sail on her maiden voyage.

The ship was given a water salute as she left the port.

Celebrity Cruises’ ship Celebrity Edge, which also set sail, made it the first time in 15+ months that two cruise ships sail from the Port on the same day.

Odyssey OTS is scheduled to sail 6- and 8-night Southern & Western Caribbean cruises from Port Everglades (Fort Lauderdale, Florida).

RCI had originally scheduled the liner to begin sailings in 2020, but the global COVID crisis forced the debut to be delayed by a year.

The inaugural season from Civitavecchia-Rome Italy was canceled and instead due to sail from Israel this summer.  However, violence in the region forced the company to cancel the entire summer season and Odyssey OTS was re-scheduled to start sailings from Florida.
