Seabourn names 2nd expedition cruise ship Seabourn Pursuit

Seabourn Cruises named its 2nd ultra-luxury, purpose-built expedition cruise ship, the 264-passenger Seabourn Pursuit.

Construction for the vessel began in fall 2020 in San Giorgio di Nogaro, Italy. Seabourn Pursuit is scheduled for delivery in February 2023. The first in the class, sistership Seabourn Venture, is scheduled for delivery in March 2022.

Following delivery, Seabourn Pursuit is heading north with Maiden Voyage (“Fire and Ice” itinerary) scheduled for April 4, 2023, roundtrip from Reykjavik Iceland. The inaugural cruise features coastal and fjord cruising in Iceland and Greenland, and includes a stop in Akureyri from where are accessed Godafoss Waterfall, Dimmuborgir's lava fields, and Lake Myvatn (Krafla's hot springs).

The yacht will then sail to Greenland, Iceland, Norway throughout the spring-early summer. In August 2023, Seabourn Pursuit will navigate the Northwest Passage voyage from Kangerlussuaq, Greenland, to Nome, Alaska. Itineraries for the inaugural season of the ship are expected to open for sale in mid-December 2021.

Both Pursuit and Venture are built to PC6 Polar Class standards and carry a 26-person expedition team, 2 custom-built submarines, 24 Zodiacs, and kayaks.
