  Port Map

Ayr lies on River Ayr's southern bank on the Atlantic Coast of Scotland. Ayr is in the heart of Robert Burns' country and has much to praise. Tourists who are literary buffs will wish to see the parish church where the poet was baptized, and the two bridges that he immortalized in Twa Brigs. Ayr also features 17th-century Ayr Auld Kirk (church) and 16th-century Loudon Hall. Ayr boasts three golf courses. South of Ayr is located Alloway, where Robert Burns was born. The Robert Burns Centre in the village houses Burns Cottage (scene of poet's birth), Burns Interpretation Centre and Burns Monument & Gardens.

From Ayr, cruisers can also visit the perched high above Firth of Clyde Culzean Castle, considered one of the most romantic castles in Scotland with splendid gardens. Crossraguel Abbey, Threave Gardens and Drumlanrig Castle are all located nearby. Glasgow is just 30 miles away.

Ayr cruise terminal

During summer, to and from Ayr are offered regularly scheduled Scottish cruises on PS Waverley - world's oldest (only one) original and still operational paddle-wheel steamship.
