Zell-Mosel is a port town located in Cochem-Zell district, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. The town covers a total area of approx 44,98 km2 (17,37 ml2) and has a population of around 4,090 people (2015 census).
- Zell-Mosel is the seat of like-named Verbandsgemeinde. The town is an hour’s drive from both Trier and Koblenz, more or less halfway between the two cities. The closest town that goes towards Koblenz is Cochem, and the closest two going towards Trier are Bernkastel-Kues and Traben-Trarbach.
- To both the spa town of Bad Bertrich in Voreifel and Frankfurt-Hahn Airport on Hunsruck Zell-Mosel is half an hour’s drive. The parts of town that lie on the river, Kaimt, Merl and the Old Town, are at an elevation of about 100 m (328 ft) above sea level on a bow in the Moselle, famous as Zeller Hamm.
- On the right bank of Moselle River lie Altstadt (the Old Town) and Stadtteil of Merl. Up in Hunsruck lies the smallest Stadtteil, Althaus, that is right at the town limit, close to Tellig. West of Moselle lie Kaimt and Barl, with 100 m higher elevation.
- The town hall of Zell-Mosel houses the local history museum with exhibits from the history of the town, traditional crafts and winegrowing. To a considerable extent, Zell-Mosel is characterized by winegrowing with 331 ha of planted vineyards. It is the biggest winegrowing centre in Mosel wine region after Piesport (413 ha).
