Emerald Sun cabins review
Follows review of Emerald Sun cabins with details on amenities, furniture, and complimentary services:
- All Emerald Sun staterooms feature queen-size beds (convertible to twin configuration), except Single cabins which have one bed (79 x 63 inches / 200 x 160 cm). Standard furnishings include bedside tables, mirrored wall panels, private en-suite bathroom (WC, sink, shower cubicle, mirrored cupboards, mirror over the basin, clothesline, and luxury bath products including shampoo, conditioner, liquid soap, and body lotion), walk-in closet (large wardrobe with hangers), personal safe, direct-dial phone, and flat HDTV (satellite reception with news and movie channels, infotainment system, movies on demand, and “View From the Bridge” real-time webcam views). Additional amenities include a fully-stocked mini-bar (beer, wine, soft drinks, snacks – extra charge, complimentary in Owner’s Suites), individual climate control, 220V European power outlets (plus one Australian socket; US passengers must bring adapters), umbrella, shoe cleaner, and two sets of earplugs.
- All Suite cabins feature floor-to-ceiling sliding doors. Marketed as “Balcony Suites,” these are actually one-room staterooms with an “indoor veranda” (instead of French Balconies found on other ships). Windows lower halfway at the push of a button, with an inner insect screen behind the curtain.
- Owner’s Suites include a separate bedroom and living area with sofa, and a bathroom with two sinks. They also feature an outdoor balcony furnished with two wooden chairs (with cushions) and a small round table. Additional Owner’s Suite perks include a complimentary mini-bar (replenished daily), Nespresso coffee machine, iPad, in-room dining (continental breakfast, pre-dinner canapés, after-dinner sweets), and complimentary laundry service (four items per day).
- Grand Suites include a Nespresso coffee machine, in-room dining (continental breakfast, canapés, sweets), and complimentary laundry service (two items per day).
- All Standard staterooms have fixed large picture windows.
- Onboard laundry service is available at additional cost, with items collected directly from staterooms by housekeeping staff.
- Cabin access is via magnetic chip instead of key cards. Chips are provided on lanyards.
- A daily program with scheduled activities is delivered to cabins each evening. The Emerald Sun cruise director also gives a nightly port talk with an overview of the next day’s destinations, tours, and excursions.
- Complimentary Wi-Fi is available shipwide.
