Emerald Star cabins and suites

Follows review of Emerald Star cabins as amenities, furniture, and complimentary services:

• All Emerald Star cabins have either queen beds or convertible twin-bed configurations (except Single cabins, which feature one bed /size 79 x 63 inches, or 200 x 160 cm). Each stateroom includes bedside tables, mirrored panels by the bed, private en-suite bathroom (WC, small sink, shower cubicle, mirrored cupboards, mirror over the basin, clothesline, luxury bath products /shampoo, liquid soap, conditioner, body lotion), walk-in closet (large wardrobe with hangers), personal safe, direct-dial phone, flat HDTV (satellite reception, news and movie channels, infotainment system, movies on demand, “View From the Bridge” /real-time webcam views), and mini-bar (fully stocked with beer, wine, soft drinks, and snacks /all at extra charge, except complimentary in Owner’s Suites). Additional amenities include individual climate control, 220V power outlets (European sockets in the cabin and bathroom, plus one Australian socket /US travelers must bring adapters), umbrella, shoe cleaner, and two sets of earplugs.
• All Suite cabins feature floor-to-ceiling sliding doors. Although referred to as “Balcony Suites,” these are one-room cabins with an “indoor veranda” (instead of a French Balcony on other ships). The floor-to-ceiling windows drop halfway with the push of a button. Behind the main curtain, an inner screen prevents insects from entering.
• Owner’s Suites have a separate bedroom and living area with sofa, plus a bathroom with two sinks. These suites also offer a sit-out balcony with two padded wooden chairs and a small round table. Extra Owner’s Suite perks include a complimentary mini-bar (restocked daily), Nespresso coffee maker, iPad, in-room dining (continental breakfast, pre-dinner canapés, after-dinner sweets), and complimentary laundry (4 items per day).
• Grand Suites include a Nespresso coffee maker, in-suite dining (continental breakfast, canapés, sweets), and complimentary laundry (2 items per day).
• All Standard Staterooms have large fixed Picture Windows.
• Onboard laundry service is available for a per-item fee (items are picked up directly from staterooms by housekeeping staff).
• Cabin access is provided by magnetic chip instead of key cards. Chips are attached to lanyards.
• A daily program of scheduled activities is delivered to each cabin every evening. The Emerald Star cruise director also gives a nightly port talk, providing an overview of the next day’s ports of call and shore excursions.
• Complimentary Wi-Fi internet is available throughout the ship.
