SunStone Maritime Group launches Ocean Albatros in Haimen (China)

SunStone Maritime Group announced, that a launching ceremony for its Ocean Albatros ship had been successfully held on September 16 at China Merchants Heavy Industries in Haimen, China.

Ocean Albatros is the 6th ship in the series of INFINITY Class newbuilds to be constructed for SunStone. The scheduled delivery of Ocean Albatros is in the spring of 2023 when she will go on a year-round charter with Albatros Expeditions.

Everyone at SunStone is looking forward to seeing the ship's sea trials during the winter.

Ocean Albatros is the sixth in a series of ten "Ulstein CX103" design (Infinity-Class) expedition vessels, with sisterships Greg Mortimer (2019-Aug), Ocean Victory (2021-March), Ocean Explorer (2021-Jan), Sylvia Earle (2021-Sept), Ocean Odyssey (2022-Feb), Ocean Discoverer (2023-March) plus 4 more (TBN) units. The patented ULSTEIN X-BOW design is one of the unusual for expedition ships features, The vessel also utilizes the latest technologies in naval engineering. The ship is technically managed by Cruise Management International (Miami-based passenger vessel/fleet management company). CMI Leisure Miami handles hotel operations.

Ocean Albatros cruise ship

INFINITY Class vessels are 104 metres long and 18 metres wide, with a draft of 5.1 metres. They feature a guest capacity of between 130-200 and a crew capacity of between 85-115. The ships are Ice Class 1A, and Polar Class 6, being built with Safe Return to Port, Dynamic Positioning, as well as zero speed stabilizers. The vessels are small enough to give an exclusive atmosphere, yet large enough to yield all the expected facilities, such as a bar, swimming pool, restaurants, lounges, gym, spa, and boutique.
