Exciting news for AIDA Cruises' passengers and crew as the implementation of Starlink, SpaceX's innovative broadband service, on AIDA ships is progressing faster than anticipated. By October 2023, AIDA's entire fleet will be equipped with this technology, ensuring a superior onboard Wi-Fi experience before the year's end.
Already, guests on AIDAblu, AIDAbella, and AIDAstella can enjoy a special offer that comes with enhanced data volumes in the internet packages starting in mid-July. With the "Starlink Special" introductory offer, the L, XL, and XXL internet packages can be purchased at the regular price but with double the data volume. For those booking the "Fifty" social media flat rate for kids and teens through the myAIDA service portal, a 50% discount is available.
The integration of Starlink across the AIDA fleet not only benefits passengers but also provides significant advantages for the crew. This achievement enhances communication with AIDA colleagues on land, fostering closer cooperation and enlivening the AIDA culture. By increasing the data volume, individual crew members gain personal benefits for private use, enabling them to stay connected with family and friends, and creating a sense of home at sea. The fleet-wide implementation of Starlink within Carnival Corporation began in December 2022, covering Carnival Cruise Line and AIDA Cruises ships. Thanks to the dedicated efforts of the AIDA project team, the connection to SpaceX's Starlink low earth orbit satellite technology and the associated IT infrastructure will be completed ahead of schedule, specifically by mid-October 2023.
In the future, AIDA guests and crew members will enjoy reliable, fast, and more affordable internet connectivity through a combination of different technologies, services, and broadband connections in all AIDA destinations. This will enable travelers who rely on internet access or wish to stay in touch with loved ones to have seamless communication and share their travel experiences.
