As the New Year's Eve fireworks spectacle in Funchal (Madeira Island Portugal) unfolds, a crowd of around 27 thousand tourists will be witnessing the dazzling show from the decks of cruise ships.

Among the confirmed fleet for the night, 5 out of the 8 cruise ships have already graced the port of Funchal.

P&O Arcadia and Fred Olsen Borealis find their berths on the south pier, while SAGA Spirit of Adventure is positioned on the north pier adjacent to Praca CR7. Remaining steadfast in the harbor are TUI's Mein Schiff 1 and Cunard's Queen Victoria.

Tonight, the trio of Marella Explorer, AIDAcosma and Mein Schiff 3 are en route, bringing aboard a collective count of 13783 individuals, including 10689 passengers.

Awaiting their imminent arrival, the last three ships are currently en route.

In anticipation of the maritime festivities, tomorrow will see 33 personnel from the Port Administration and an additional 12 from surveillance and policing services diligently carrying out their duties.
