Adora Cruises, a leading force in China’s maritime industry, has unveiled a detailed plan for its route deployments from Shenzhen/Shekou over the next two years. This move reflects a notable upswing in domestic cruise demand. Beginning in autumn 2025, Shenzhen will serve as the company’s homeport for voyages to Hong Kong, Japan, Vietnam, and the Philippines—marking a strategic expansion within the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area.
In 2026, Shenzhen will witness the departure of China’s first domestically built luxury cruise ship. The following year, Adora intends to base two vessels at Shenzhen, underscoring the port's emerging role as a full-service cruise hub.
Adora's second newbuild, Adora Flora City, is expected to embark on international voyages from Guangzhou by the end of 2026, extending the region’s maritime reach.
This ambitious deployment coincides with a pronounced surge in summer cruise bookings among Chinese travellers. Ctrip reports that bookings this summer have grown by over 60% compared to the previous year, while internationally bound long-haul cruises surged by approximately 120%.
These developments illustrate a vigorous recovery and expanding enthusiasm for cruise travel within China’s domestic market, positioning Shenzhen as a pivotal gateway in the country’s maritime expansion.
