Oceania's Allura to be christened by esteemed food & wine culinary alumni

Oceania Cruises has charted an unprecedented course in maritime tradition by appointing a group of alumni from Food & Wine’s Best New Chefs programme as godparents to its upcoming vessel, the Oceania Allura, scheduled to debut in July 2025. The announcement, made during the prestigious Food & Wine Classic in Aspen, redefines the customary godparent role—typically held by a single figure—by entrusting it to a cadre of culinary innovators honored since 1988.

The cruise line’s Chief Luxury Officer emphasised the vessel’s naming as an homage to the creative forces shaping modern gastronomy, aligning with Oceania’s identity as a brand deeply rooted in exceptional cuisine.

Food & Wine’s editor-in-chief conveyed that the Best New Chefs alumni’s selection reflects a shared commitment to discovery, innovation, and culinary excellence—a fitting tribute to voices defining contemporary dining.

The Oceania Allura will accommodate approximately 1,200 guests and will showcase over 270 new recipes, a comprehensive Culinary Center and Chef’s Studio, alongside the return of the signature French restaurant Jacques and pioneering Nikkei offerings at Red Ginger.

The ship’s christening ceremony is planned for November 13, 2025, in Miami.

Beyond the Allura naming, Oceania Cruises is enriching its culinary programme with themed voyages: a Best New Chefs cruise aboard the Oceania Riviera in Alaska (August 18–28, 2025) featuring 2023 honouree Aisha Ibrahim, and additional similar voyages planned aboard the Allura in 2026.

In marking its new godparents, Oceania Cruises reinforces its position as the cruise line built by food aficionados, for food aficionados.
