Princess Cruises has announced modifications to the itineraries of Sun Princess, one of the fleet's newest vessels, introducing enhanced 7-day Western Mediterranean sailings between April 2026 and October 2027.

Sixteen departures are scheduled, each offering newly added ports and extended calls.

The updated program includes visits to Palma de Mallorca in Spain and Ajaccio on the island of Corsica, as well as an overnight stay at La Spezia, Italy, providing guests with a 2-day opportunity to explore Florence and Tuscany. To accommodate these changes, Gibraltar will be omitted from the itineraries.

The voyages, sailing between Barcelona and Civitavecchia (Rome), combine cultural centres and coastal towns with shore excursions tailored to highlight regional history, landscapes, and culinary traditions. Excursions from Ajaccio focus on Napoléon Bonaparte’s birthplace, Bonaparte Maison, and the island’s natural settings such as the A Cupulatta Tortoise Sanctuary. From Genoa, passengers can travel to Cinque Terre or explore the city’s maritime heritage. Calls at Marseille offer access to Aix-en-Provence and panoramic views from the Basilica Notre-Dame de la Garde.

Depending on the departure, itineraries also feature Palma, where excursions include the historic Sóller railway, Valldemossa village, or wine tastings in Santa Maria del Camí. Ibiza offers both its well-known beaches and UNESCO-listed Dalt Vila, alongside tours into quieter countryside communities. On the Ligurian coast, Santa Margherita provides access to Portofino, Cinque Terre, Camogli, and San Fruttuoso, with options ranging from coastal hiking to pesto-making workshops.

Select voyages incorporate overnight calls in La Spezia, allowing extended exploration of Tuscany’s cities and countryside. With these additions, Sun Princess expands its Mediterranean programme, offering more varied cultural immersion across Italy, France, and Spain during the 2026 and 2027 seasons.
