Princess Cruises has reached a notable point in its North American deployment with the arrival of Sky Princess, the line’s first Royal-Class vessel to be based at Port Canaveral. The ship begins a program of Caribbean sailings from Central Florida that will run through March 2026, with a second season already planned from November 2026 to March 2027.
From its new base, Sky Princess is operating 6- and 8-day itineraries to Caribbean destinations, with options for guests to combine voyages into longer two-week journeys calling at ports such as Turks and Caicos, Puerto Rico, St. Thomas, and Amber Cove. Port Canaveral’s accessibility, whether by road, air, or the line’s Rail & Sail partnership with Brightline, has been highlighted by the cruise line as a key advantage for travelers.
Princess Cruises’ Chief Commercial Officer Jim Berra noted that the company regarded its previous Caribbean season from Port Canaveral as successful and viewed the return with Sky Princess as an expansion of capacity and choice for the market. Port Canaveral CEO Capt. John Murray remarked that the cruise line had become an important partner to the port and that Sky Princess would strengthen Central Florida’s cruise offerings.
Sky Princess, carrying 3,660 guests and measuring 141,000 gross tons, continues the Royal-Class design style with features ranging from varied dining and entertainment options to contemporary accommodations suited to present-day cruise travelers.
