Amadeus River Cruises has officially named its newest vessel, Amadeus Aurea, during a ceremony held in Amsterdam on May 15th.

The 158-passenger river ship was christened by godmother Kristie Keller, owner of the travel agency Addicted to Adventures, who performed the traditional champagne bottle ceremony as part of the event.

Following its introduction to the fleet, Amadeus Aurea is scheduled to operate its inaugural season on the Rhine and Danube rivers. The programme includes itineraries between Amsterdam and Basel, round-trip voyages from Passau with calls in Vienna and Budapest, a Blue Danube sailing between Nuremberg and Passau, and the seasonal Magic of Advent cruise from Strasbourg to Cologne.

Designed for the premium river cruise market, the vessel features suites with walk-out balconies, a spa and fitness area, the Café Vienna dining venue, a sun deck and a heated swimming pool.

Amadeus River Cruises stated that the launch of Amadeus Aurea forms part of its ongoing fleet investment strategy and long-term commitment to the premium river cruise sector. The company indicated that the new vessel has been designed to meet growing demand for immersive travel experiences while maintaining high standards of comfort, service and onboard quality.
