Cordelia Cruises has confirmed that the former Norwegian Sun will join its fleet as Cordelia Sun, entering service in November 2027 and expanding the Indian cruise operator's fleet to three vessels. The ship is scheduled to conclude its final season with NCL-Norwegian Cruise Line at the end of September 2027 before beginning operations for its new owner on November 1st.
According to the published deployment, Cordelia Sun will operate a series of 2- to 5-night cruises from Mumbai, focusing on destinations along India's west coast. The inaugural voyage will be a four-night roundtrip sailing that includes a call at Agatti Island in the Lakshadweep archipelago. Subsequent itineraries will feature ports including Mormugao in Goa and Cochin, while the programme will also include 2-night cruises at sea and selected sailings allowing embarkation or disembarkation in Goa and Cochin. The currently available schedule extends through April 2028.
The addition of Cordelia Sun follows the acquisition of Norwegian Sun and Norwegian Sky in 2025, significantly expanding the company's fleet beyond its original vessel, Cordelia Empress, formerly Empress of the Seas. The three-ship fleet is expected to strengthen Cordelia Cruises' position in the Indian market while supporting the company's planned expansion into selected Southeast Asian itineraries.
Originally entering service in 2001 as part of Norwegian Cruise Line's Sun class, the vessel has spent more than two decades operating itineraries across Europe, Alaska, Asia, Australia and South America. Before its transfer, Norwegian Sun will complete a final European season for Norwegian Cruise Line during the summer of 2027.
The fleet expansion follows the planned introduction of Cordelia Sky, formerly Norwegian Sky, which is scheduled to begin service in October 2026 with short cruises from Mumbai, Goa and Cochin before extending operations to Southeast Asia. Since launching in late 2021 with Cordelia Empress, the cruise line has steadily expanded its network of homeports and itineraries, reflecting the continued development of India's cruise tourism sector and ongoing investment in the country's port infrastructure.
