Viking will expand its Chinese-language ocean cruise programme to Northern Europe in April 2027, following the completion of Viking Yidun's inaugural Mediterranean season. The move marks the introduction of the company's first Northern Europe itineraries designed specifically for Mandarin-speaking guests.

The programme will feature multiple departures of two 15-day Viking Nordic Discovery itineraries operating between Oslo and Stockholm. One itinerary begins with an overnight stay in Oslo before calling at Kristiansund, Bergen, Eidfjord and Stavanger in Norway, followed by an overnight stay in Copenhagen. The voyage then continues to the Danish island of Bornholm and the Baltic ports of Gdańsk in Poland, Klaipėda in Lithuania and Riga in Latvia before concluding with an overnight stay in Stockholm. The itinerary will also be offered in the reverse direction, while selected departures will include an additional call at Gothenburg.

To complement the cruises, Viking China will introduce optional land programmes in Oslo, Stockholm and Reykjavík. The Northern Europe deployment will follow a 14-day repositioning voyage from Lisbon to Oslo, departing on April 9th, 2027, along Europe's Atlantic coastline.

Viking Yidun is currently operating its first 60-day transcontinental voyage, which departed Shanghai in early June and is scheduled to arrive in Barcelona in early August to begin its maiden Mediterranean season. The vessel will continue offering Chinese-language Mediterranean cruises through the winter of 2027, alongside more than ten combination voyages, including a 60-day itinerary from Piraeus to Stockholm visiting 40 destinations across 18 countries. Mediterranean sailings between August and March will range from 8 to 22 days, calling at ports in Italy, Spain, Greece, Turkey, France, Monaco, Croatia, Montenegro and Slovenia.

Viking noted that more than 100,000 Chinese travellers have sailed with the company, making China one of its key source markets. To meet the needs of Mandarin-speaking guests, the 930-passenger Viking Yidun offers Chinese-language signage, entertainment systems, hotel services and shore assistance, as well as Chinese electrical outlets, in-room kettles and a combination of Chinese and Western cuisine throughout the voyage.
