The 99,800 GT Mein Schiff 6 was delivered to TUI Cruises ceo Wybcke Meier by Meyer Turku. Wybcke Meier praised the 'excellent quality' and on-time completion.

Mein Schiff 6 is the 4th in a series of ships built in Turku for TUI. 82% of all 1,267 cabins have balconies. The ship has 13 lounges and bars, 13 restaurants and bistros. Scrubbers are among the environmental systems of the new ship, and the company has decided to use the exhaust gas cleaning system continuously, and not only in Emission Control Areas.

An escape room is a new entertainment feature for team challenges. The nightclub Abtanz was redesigned into multifunctional spot to host lectures during the day.

Following the hand-over, TUI Schiff 6 departed for Kiel. During the next weeks the cruise ship will welcome its first passengers. The naming ceremony is set for June 1 close to the waterfront Elbphilharmonie, the spectacular concert house in Hamburg. The acclaimed Latvian organist Iveta Apkalna will serve as the godmother.

Schiff 6 will offer Northern Europen / Baltic Sea cruises until mid-August, then will cross from Hamburg to NYC to start cruises in USA and Canada, followed by Caribbean and Central America (beginning November 2017).
