An 18-year-old woman with special needs has been allegedly assaulted by a male passenger in a hot tub onboard CCL-Carnival Cruise Line ship.
The accident was reported Tuesday evening on Carnival Elation, which was on a 5-day voyage from Jacksonville to the Bahamas, according to the USCG.
In a statement, CCL says that “an adult female guest notified our security team of an alleged act of misconduct by an adult male guest onboard Carnival Elation.”
The line said it had notified law enforcement, including FBI, and that the male passenger had been detained onboard.
The cruise ship is due to return to Jacksonville today, March 1.
The FBI will handle the investigation into the accident because it occurred on international waters.
