Silversea Introduces 3 New Tale Tellers For World Cruise 2019

Silversea revealed the identities of 3 new Tale Tellers for company’s World Cruise 2019 who will each illustrate one of the 9 segments of the extended trip.

Steve McCurry, Alain de Botton, Sophy Roberts will embark Silver Whisper for a segment of the 52- port cruise, joining Paul Theroux, Pico Iyer and 4 other Tale Tellers yet to be announced. The celebrated creatives will host a series of lectures for passengers while onboard and will produce a literary journal (artwork), inspired by the sailed destinations.

Their efforts will enrich Silversea's onboard experience and will combine to create an anthology of the cruise, which will be presented as a gift to travelers.

  • For more than 30 years, Steve McCurry has been among the most iconic creators in contemporary photography. He has been recognized with some of the industry's most prestigious awards, including Robert Capa Gold Medal, National Press Photographers Award, and 4 first prize awards from World Press Photo contest.
  • Alain de Botton has been a member of the Royal Society of Literature since 2011. He is widely published with literary works that have been bestsellers in thirty countries. 
  • Having written for a wealth of reputable newspapers and magazines, including The Wall Street Journal, the Financial Times and Conde Nast Traveler, Sophy Roberts' stories focus on remote travel. The adventurous 8th segment of 2019 Silversea’s World Cruise itinerary will see Roberts travel from Cape Town to Lisbon.

Commencing from San Francisco January 6, 2019 and finishing in Greenwich, London, May 19, 2019, the World Cruise will visit 31 different countries across 5 continents over 132 days.
