A young officer working onboard the Celebrity Millennium ship has been found dead, hanging in his cabin’s bathroom on Thursday, December 6, just a day before the vessel arrived in Singapore.
The officer, who reportedly committed suicide, has been identified as Anton Ilichev from Ukraine, working as a Suite Manager for Celebrity Cruises for a number of contracts.
This was his final sailing before the end of the contract as the officer was due to disembark in Singapore for a regular vacation. The tragedy was confirmed by Anton’s close friends and other crew members.
Celebrity Millennium was on a 2-week Southeast Asia cruise out of Hong Kong to Singapore at the time of accident.
