A German mother and her daughter were identified as the two cruise ship visitors attacked in Sans Souci, Castries, Saturday morning, January 19.

The women were pounced on by a couple of young thugs after they exited Serenity Park at around 10.00 a.m. The criminals are said to have tried to snatch a pouch from the mother, but the females put up a struggle.

The travelers sustained multiple abrasions. Their screams attracted the attention of others and the criminals fled empty-handed. The passengers later returned to their ship, AIDAperla.

Obviously, a group of criminals is targeting businesses and individuals in the area. A number of people were mugged in Sans Souci and several business places were broken into recently. Last week, a couple was robbed at gunpoint in Serenity Park.

At the time of the accident, AIDAperla was on a 14-day Caribbean cruise, roundtrip from Bridgetown Barbados.
