Royal Caribbean cut the first steel for its 2nd Quantum Ultra Class ship. The company announced that the name of the new build will be Odyssey of the Seas.

The official steel-cutting ceremony was held at Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg. Odyssey of the Seas will be Royal Caribbean's 27th ship and is due to debut in the fall of 2020. The vessel will sail from the United States.

Odyssey of the Seas will also be line's second Quantum Ultra Class ship. She follows sistership Spectrum of the Seas (scheduled to debut in April 2019 and to depart to Asia).

Royal Caribbean President & CEO Michael Bayley hinted that Odyssey will visit the UK (Southampton) when she launches, and wouldn't be headed to China like company's last couple Quantum Class vessels.
