Chantiers de l’Atlantique and MSC Cruises held Coin Ceremony for MSC Virtuosa on February 27, the same day that the cruise line took delivery of MSC Bellissima. The Coin Ceremony takes place at the early stages of the building when the keel of the ship is laid.

Scheduled for delivery in November 2020, Virtuosa will become the 4th Meraviglia Class vessel in the fleet of MSC Cruises and the 2nd of 3 Meraviglia-Plus ships, a bigger and enriched version of Meraviglia prototype with more cabins, public spaces, and features.

Tradition dictates that a couple of long-standing employees from the yard and the shipowner act as godmothers, and place 2 coins under the new vessel’s keel block as a sign of good fortune and blessing. Helen Huang, President, Greater China, MSC Cruises, and Elise Guerin, Project Manager, Chantiers de l’Atlantique had the honor of performing the traditional task.
