Dream Cruises announced the godmother for the line's newest ship, Explorer Dream (currently SuperStar Virgo), that is joining the fleet in April 2019 after her ceremonial launch and official naming in Shanghai, China.

Celebrated Chinese designer, Grace Chen, was chosen for the role because of her success in the international fashion industry as well as a trailblazer for Chinese women all around the globe.

Grace Chen, who is the Founder and Chief Designer of Grace Chen Couture, is regarded as one of the most influential fashion innovators in China. As the first mainland Chinese alumni of the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, Chen worked as a stars' designer in Los Angeles and New York for 15 years, prior to setting up her own label in China 10 years ago.

As the official godmother, Chen will play a pivotal role during the christening of Explorer Dream on April 11. Selected to symbolically bring protection and good luck to the vessel, she will be responsible for the traditional breaking of the bottle of champagne on the ship's hull to herald the launch of Explorer Dream. Grace Chen will present a special fashion show of her creations during the inaugural event.

SuperStar Virgo (Explorer Dream) cruise ship

Explorer Dream is due to living up to her name as the Pathfinder vessel for Dream Cruises' global plans. Formerly SuperStar Virgo of sister brand Star Cruises, the ship is currently undergoing a US$56 million transformation that will add new facilities, such as The Palace, line's signature, private “ship-within-a-ship” featuring more than 40 new suites and butler service, the first line to offer the concept to high-end vacationers in Asia. Within The Palace, passengers can savor all-new beverage and dining privileges which combine the best of “East meets West” and new exclusive activities, including fashion workshops with Chen, as part of the Connoisseurs Circle.

A selection of upgraded and new facilities onboard Explorer Dream will feature exciting entertainment and leisure spaces like the Zodiac Theatre, virtual reality ESC Experience Lab, Palm Court, observatory lounge and a new lobby atrium area. World-class dining experiences are highlighted by Mozzarella Ristorante & Pizzeria, Umi Uma Sushi & Teppanyaki, Seafood Grill by Mark Best, and more.

Explorer Dream begins her North China cruises with inaugural homeports in Tianjin and Shanghai during Spring-Summer 2019 via a selection of itineraries to picturesque destinations in Japan.
