Passenger Medevaced from Carnival Dream

   January 8, 2020 ,   Accidents

Carnival Dream arrived back at Galveston TX due to a medical emergency involving a cruise passenger. The vessel was en route to Cozumel Mexico (Yucatan Peninsula) when the emergency occurred.

Carnival Cruise Line revealed they had contacted the Fleet Operations Center in Miami FL but due to strong winds, air evacuation had not been possible. A special debarkation took place for the passenger who suffered from a medical emergency.

Without the medical emergency, the ship would sail to the first port of call of Cozumel. The scheduled visit to Cozumel on January 8 was cancelled and instead, Carnival Dream had a full day at sea. As compensation, all passengers received a 20% future Carnival cruise credit. Travellers are also having any pre-booked shore trips through the line refunded along with any port taxes and fees.

At the time of the accident, Carnival Dream was on a 5-day Western Caribbean sailing that departed from Galveston on January 6.
