Easy independently. Alanya Cruise Port is beside the historic harbor and central shopping streets. The Red Tower and Seljuk Shipyard are close to the passenger exit, while Damlataş Cave, Cleopatra Beach and the castle cable car can be reached on foot across town.

Most cruise calls use the central pier, although anchoring and tender operations are possible. Follow the ship’s instructions for the specific call.

Getting from the Cruise Port

Passengers normally leave the terminal directly into the harbor area. A shuttle is generally unnecessary for central Alanya.

• On foot: Best for the harbor, Red Tower, old shopping streets, Damlataş Cave and the eastern end of Cleopatra Beach.
• Taxi: Useful for the upper castle, beaches farther from the center or attractions outside Alanya. Agree on the fare or confirm that the meter will be used.
• Local transport: City buses serve the wider resort, but routes and payment arrangements can change. For a short call, walking and taxis are usually simpler.
• Cable car: The lower station is beside Damlataş Cave and connects with the Ehmedek area of Alanya Castle. Operating times can vary, so check locally before relying on it for the return journey.

Best Ways to Spend Your Time

Red Tower, Shipyard and Historic Harbor

Allow 1.5–2.5 hours. This is the easiest option for a short call. Walk around the excursion-boat harbor to the 13th-century Red Tower, then continue beside the castle peninsula to the vaulted Seljuk Shipyard. The route is largely straightforward, although the shipyard approach has uneven surfaces and steps.

Alanya Castle by Cable Car

Allow 3–4 hours. Walk approximately 2 km (1.2 mi) from the port through central Alanya to Damlataş. Take the cable car to Ehmedek, then explore the walls, viewpoints and old lanes on the castle peninsula.

The upper area includes slopes, stone paving and many steps. The cable car reaches part of the castle district rather than every attraction, and the main citadel requires additional uphill walking. A taxi is an easier alternative for passengers who want to reach the highest section with less walking.

Damlataş Cave and Cleopatra Beach

Allow 2.5–4 hours. Damlataş Cave is a compact limestone cave near the cable-car station and the eastern end of Cleopatra Beach. Combine a brief cave visit with swimming, a waterfront walk or time at the beach.

The beach is practical independently, but the shoreline can become steep and waves may be strong. Observe local warning flags and allow time to change before returning to the ship.

Dim Cave and Dim River

Allow about 4–5 hours. Dim Cave is approximately 11 km (6.8 mi) from central Alanya, while restaurants and recreation areas are spread along the Dim River valley. A taxi with an agreed waiting arrangement or a prearranged excursion is more practical than trying to coordinate local buses during a port call.

Sapadere Canyon

Organized excursion recommended. The canyon is approximately 40 km (24.9 mi) from Alanya. Its raised walkways lead through a narrow gorge toward waterfalls and cold natural pools. Road travel consumes a substantial part of the day, so this option suits a long call with reliable round-trip transport.

Self-Guided Walking Tours

Easy Harbor and Old Town Walk

Distance: approximately 3 km (1.9 mi) round trip
Pure walking time: about 45–55 minutes
Recommended time: 1.5–2.5 hours
Difficulty: Easy to moderate, with some steps and uneven paving near the historic structures.

1. Leave the cruise terminal and follow the harbor promenade.
2. Walk toward the Red Tower, the prominent octagonal landmark below the castle.
3. Continue around the base of the peninsula to the Seljuk Shipyard.
4. Return past the Red Tower and walk through the central bazaar streets.
5. Rejoin the waterfront and follow the harbor back to the terminal.

This route remains close to the ship and can be shortened easily.

Moderate Cross-Town and Castle Route

Distance: approximately 5–7 km (3.1–4.3 mi), excluding the cable-car ride
Pure walking time: about 1.5–2 hours
Recommended time: 4–5 hours
Difficulty: Moderate, with hills, stairs and uneven stone surfaces in the castle area.

1. Start at the cruise terminal and walk along the harbor.
2. Pass through central Alanya toward Damlataş Cave.
3. Visit the cave or continue directly to the nearby cable-car station.
4. Ride to Ehmedek and explore the castle walls, viewpoints and old lanes.
5. Descend by cable car and stop briefly at Cleopatra Beach.
6. Return through the center to the cruise terminal.

Do not attempt the entire climb to the castle on foot unless prepared for a long, steep ascent in exposed heat. Confirm the cable car’s return operation before going up.

Practical Tips

• Wear shoes with good grip for castle paving, steps and the shipyard area.
• Carry water and sun protection; much of the castle peninsula is exposed.
• Check attraction and cable-car hours after arrival rather than relying on old online listings.
• Keep a larger return margin after an out-of-town excursion or when the ship is using tenders.
• Antalya is approximately 125 km (77.7 mi) away and road travel can take around 2.5 hours each way. It is generally unsuitable for an ordinary Alanya port call.
• Aim to be back at the terminal at least 60 minutes before the ship’s stated all-aboard time, or earlier after a long independent journey.
