Dunk Island (Queensland Australia)

Dunk Island (Queensland, Australia) is located approx 4 km (2,5 ml) off the town of Mission Beach. The isle is part of the Family Islands National Park. It is also part of the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area.

Dunk Island is surrounded by coral reefs. During WW2 (1939-1945), it was used by the Royal Australian Air Force. Today, the island is a popular resort destination, featuring sandy beaches, rocky shores, over 100 species of birds (including rare seabirds), reptiles (pythons, gecko lizards, tree snakes, skinks), marine mammal (sea turtles, dugongs).
