Etretat is a small town in France's Normandy region (Pays de Caux in Seine-Maritime department) with a population of around 1,500. It is located approx 30 km (20 mi) northeast of Le Havre (port to Paris City). The resort town is a unique and very popular travel and vacation destination.

Etretat Chalk Complex consists of stunning chalk cliffs along the coast and features three natural stone arches (named Porte d'Aval, Porte d'Amont, and Manneporte / the biggest). The Needle (L'Aiguille) is a separated (off the coast) rock with a height of 70 m (230 ft) above sea level. The highest cliffs are 90 m (300 ft) above sea level.

 

Through Etretat passes the hiking path GR21 (linking Le Havre with Le Treport). Town's economy is based on tourism and farming. Etretat is currently ranked Normandy's top-visited tourist attraction - followed by Palais Benedictine (distillery and museum in Fecamp), Rouen Cathedral (Roman Catholic church in Rouen) and Claude Monet Foundation (painter's house and gardens in Giverny).
