Golfo Aranci is a port town located on Italy's Sardinia Island, in the Olbia-Tempio Province. The town is approx 200 km (120 ml) north of Cagliari and approx 13 km (8 ml) northeast of Olbia. The small town covers an area of around 37 km2 (14 ml2) 'and has population around 3,000.
The name of Golfo Aranci comune derives probably from the wrong spelling of Sardinian Golfu di li Ranci ("Gulf of the Crabs"). Once famous as Figari, the current town grew up as a fishing port in the middle of the 18th century. In early 19th century the Royal Decree made it the major port for the arrivals from mainland, contributing to its population growth.
