Kalocsa is a Danube River cruise port (accessed from Fokto) and town in southern Hungary, located approx 142 km (88 ml) south of country's capital Budapest. The town has population around 16,000. This is one of Hungary's oldest towns, established in 1000 AD. In 1875, large part of the town was destroyed by fire.
Here is the Archdiocese of one of Hungary's all four Catholic archbishops (the other being Esztergom, Budapest, Pecs). Amongst its buildings are the archiepiscopal palace, cathedral, astronomical observatory, priest seminary, colleges for teachers. Local economy is based on agriculture (predominately fruits, flax, paprika, cereals, hemp) and fishing.
