Lovund Island is located southeast of Traena (on Husoya Island) and west of Solvaer Islands (around 300 small and flat isles).
Lovund is notable for its large puffin (nesting seabird) colony on its rocky north slope. The village of Lovund (also called Strand) is in the island's northeastern part. It has a population around 500.
