As cruise port, Napa CA was included in the 2023 schedule of the USA's largest cruise company - ACL-American Cruise Lines.

ACL's San Francisco Bay Cruise itinerary features scenic cruising in San Francisco Bay and San Pablo Bay (an evening stop in Vallejo), as well as cruising on the Napa River and San Joaquin River. The San Francisco Bay cruise includes passing the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, and Treasure Island. A guided San Francisco city tour visits Ghirardelli Square and Fisherman's Wharf. The cruisetour's signature experiences also include NASCAR-style driving (at Stockton 99 Speedway) and visiting a Napa Valley Winery (wine-tasting excursion). A guided Old Sacramento tour visits the underground city, the port, and the California State Railroad Museum.

The town was established in the mid-19th-century (1847-founded, 1872-incorporated) and expanded during the California Gold Rush (1848-55). Napa River (length 55 mi / 89 km) enters Napa Valley at Calistoga and also passes through St Helena, Rutherford, Oakville and Napa City. The river empties into San Pablo Bay/San Francisco Bay thus connecting Napa Valley to the Pacific Ocean.

State Route/SR 29 highway directly connects Napa with Vallejo (North Bay Area) and the East Bay Area. Napa is served by four airports located in close proximity to the city - in Oakland and San Francisco (~50 mi / 80 km to the south), in Santa Rosa/Sonoma (~30 mi / 50 km to the northwest), and in Sacramento (~65 mi / 105 km to the northeast) as well as by the Napa Airport (5 mi / 8 km to the south of downtown).
