Patreksfjordur is a small port town in northwestern Iceland (on Westfjords Peninsula) with population under 1000. Like most settlements in the region, Patreksfjordur's economy is based mainly on commercial fishing, food processing, and fisheries. Patreksfjordur's location makes it Europe's westernmost town.

As infrastructure and amenities, the town has camping site, guesthouses and hotels (Hotel West, Sigtun 4, Flokalundur, Breioavik), cafes and restaurants (Vestur, Fosshotel Westfjords, Heimsendi, Flokalundur, Skel, Albina, Franska Kaffihusid, Stukuhusid, Dunhagi, Hopid), indoor swimming pool, bank, hospital, police station. Latrabjarg (Europe's biggest bird cliff) is considered one of the world's best spots to photograph puffins.

Patreksfjordur Airport is approx 5 km (3 mi) south of downtown and serves mainly unscheduled and charter flights. Bildudalur Airport (approx 36 km / 22 mi) from Patreksfjordur serves regularly scheduled domestic flights (1 daily, by Eagle Air) linking to Reykjavik. Scheduled bus line links Patreksfjordur directly with Bildudalur Airport.

Port Patreksfjordur (locode ISPAT) has capacity to handle two small-sized ships simultaneously as the cruise berth has length 230 m (755 ft). At low tide, the port's access canal has width 40 m (131 ft) and depth 5,8 m (19 ft). However, cruise vessels of all sizes can be accommodated at anchorage, with their passengers being transported ashore via tender boats (5-10 minutes travel to the cruise pier, which is at 10-min walking distance from downtown).
