Playas del Coco (aka Coco Beach) is a port town in Costa Rica's Guanacaste province . This is is one of Costa Rica's oldest beachside towns and fastest developing tourism areas. Playas del Coco is located approx 32 km (20 ml) from Liberia (province 's capital and largest city). Tourism is the largest industry, starting to grow in the 1990s. Due to its good infrastructure, it quickly became a hub for tourism and business activities.
Nightlife is found in the bars with proximity to the central plaza of Playas del Coco. Other entertainment venues include discos and casinos. Restaurants are widespread, and after nightfall many double as bars. In addition to the nightlife activities, the town offers a range of ocean activities, whether it's snorkeling, Scuba Diving, relaxing on a boat, on the beach, or world-class sport fishing.
Playas del Coco is the largest of Papagayo villages, and features abundant services. Facilities like supermarkets and shops are available throughout. The village center is rundown compared to the opulence along the northern coast of Guanacaste. However, Coco area offers its share of luxurious resorts. Affordable accommodations are plentiful and attract budget tourists throughout the year.
