Triton Bay is a popular diving location (and cruise ship anchorage site) on New Guinea Island (north-western corner). Approx 30 km (19 mi) by boat from Triton Bay can be reached Pulau Aiduma Island (land area approx 70 km2 / 27 mi2). On Pulau Aiduma are three of West Papua's best-ranked scuba diving sites - Three Rocks, Christmas Rock, Little Komodo.
Triton Bay and Aiduma Island are part of Indonesia's West Papua province (Kaimana Regency), and located approx 3000 km (1870 mi) east of Jakarta (Java Island). To the north are Raja Ampat Islands. The climate is tropical (rainforest), with annual average temperature 22 C (72 F), with the warmest month January (24 C / 75 F) and the coldest month July (19 C / 66 F). Precipitation varies between 458 mm (May) and 176 mm (October).
Cruise ships anchore in Triton Bay and transport their passengers ashore via the ship's tender boats. AT Triton Bay divers can enjoy coral reef snorkelling among marine species like whale sharks, epaulette sharks (walking shark), Bryde's whales, sea turtles, big pelagic fish, crustaceans.
