Vis is a Croatian island located in the Adriatic Sea. It is also the farthest inhabited isle off mainland Croatia, with population around 4,000.
- The island has a total area of 90 km2 (35 ml2) and highest elevation point (Hum) 587 m (1926 ft). The two largest settlements of the isle are the town of Vis (on the eastern side) and Komiza (on the western coast).
- Once known for thriving fishing industry in late 19th and early 20th century, the island's major present-day industries are tourism and agriculture. Komiza and Vis town are also seats of autonomous administrative municipalities that cover the whole island and nearby small isles.
