ms La Belle de l'Adriatique

The 2007-built MS La Belle de l'Adriatique cruise ship (originally named "Silver Discoverer") is a 200-passenger seagoing vessel purpose-built for coastal voyages in the Mediterranean.

The ship (IMO number 9432799) is currently Belgium-flagged (MMSI 205481000) and registered in Brussels.

In 2020, the shipowner CroisiEurope (one of Europe’s largest river cruise companies) expanded its sea-going fleet by adding a second vessel, La Belle des Oceans. Purchased in May 2019 from SunStone Ships Inc, the vessel was previously chartered by Silversea as “Silver Discoverer” and joined CroisiEurope’s fleet in December 2019, becoming the fleetmate of La Belle de l'Adriatique.

CroisiEurope is a French family-owned travel brand headquartered in Strasbourg, France. Founded in 1976, this premium cruise line manages all aspects of its cruise operations—from ship design and construction to onboard programs, cuisine, hotel services, and crew management.

CroisiEurope cruise fares include soft drinks and alcoholic beverages (wine and beer served with lunch and dinner year-round). During Europe’s high season (April through October), the line offers all-inclusive deals with unlimited drinks. Unlike most river cruise operators, however, CroisiEurope charges an additional fee for shore excursions.

The ship’s most recent drydock refurbishment took place in January 2023 (10–25) at Port Said Shipyard in Egypt. The works included minor repairs, vessel classification, and general maintenance (steel, piping, outfitting). The hull was sandblasted, cleaned, and repainted, along with the anchors and chains. The bow thrusters were overhauled, the sundeck areas polished and repainted, and some cabins received new porthole windows. The ship was also fitted with a new echo sounder.

Decks and Cabins

MS La Belle de l'Adriatique offers 99 oceanview staterooms across six categories, including one single-occupancy cabin and one accessible cabin for passengers with reduced mobility. Most cabins are doubles, featuring twin beds convertible to queen-size.

The Upper Deck has 26 cabins with adjustable twin beds, one smaller double cabin, one single cabin, and one accessible cabin (with double/queen bed). Staterooms on the Upper and Lobby decks have large windows, while those on the two lower decks feature round portholes (non-opening).

The ship has no suites or balcony cabins. All staterooms are equipped with LCD TV, electronic safe (in the closet), alarm clock/radio, and en-suite bathrooms (WC, shower cubicle, washbasin, hairdryer, toiletries).

The vessel has five passenger decks, four of which house cabins.

Shipboard Facilities and Amenities

The ship offers an intimate atmosphere with cozy public areas, including an outdoor terrace and a small lounge on the Upper Deck.

The Main Lounge (forward on the Reception Deck) features panoramic windows, a bar, dance floor, and comfortable seating with sofas and armchairs. A large HDTV near the entrance displays the daily program (events, excursions, itinerary details) and dining menus. Guests can also request TV broadcasts. The bar serves drinks and snacks, and a complimentary daily cocktail is offered. Coffee and tea are available free of charge throughout the day. The lounge remains open until midnight.

The Reception (Lobby) Deck includes the main lobby area with two entrances, a gift shop, library, and nursery.

The Restaurant (aft on the Main Deck) is the ship’s only dining venue, operating in a single sitting. Breakfast is served from 7:30–9:00 a.m. (sometimes from 7:00 a.m. depending on the itinerary), lunch at noon, and dinner at 7:30 p.m. The cuisine is predominantly French, complemented by regional specialties and international dishes. Complimentary beverages (beer, wine by the glass, juices, coffee, and water) are served with all meals. Each voyage features a Gala Dinner held in the restaurant.

Aft on the Upper Deck is an outdoor lounge (a covered terrace with seating), while the Navigation Bridge (Wheelhouse) is located forward.

A passenger elevator connects all decks. Wi-Fi is available throughout the ship for a fee.

The Sundeck (top deck) offers a spacious outdoor relaxation area with loungers, deckchairs, shaded tables, and chairs. Umbrellas are available upon request. The sundeck bar serves this area, which is also the only designated smoking zone onboard. The deck features a swimming pool (unheated, used during summer) and two outdoor whirlpool Jacuzzis. No deck games are available.

Itineraries

MS La Belle de l'Adriatique’s itinerary program focuses mainly on Mediterranean and Adriatic Sea voyages along Croatia’s Dalmatian Coast.

The table below shows the 7-day “Croatia and Montenegro” roundtrip itinerary from homeport Dubrovnik.

From homeport Piraeus, the ship operates the 7-day “The Mysterious Cyclades and Dodecanese Islands in the Aegean Sea” roundtrip itinerary, with fares starting from EUR 1545 (USD 1780) per person.

After the Coronavirus pause, CroisiEurope scheduled a winter season in Arabia for 2021–2022 (November through March), with the ship deployed in the Red Sea region to operate the 8-day “Treasures on the Red Sea” itinerary roundtrip from Hurghada.

Early booking rates started from EUR 2715 (USD 3135) per person, based on double occupancy.

CroisiEurope’s Red Sea cruises were organized in cooperation with Rhapsody Shipping Agency (based at Port Alexandria).

After the 2023 drydock, the ship resumed service on January 28. The Red Sea deployment included roundtrips from Sharm El Sheikh with 7-night voyages visiting ports in Egypt and Jordan. In March 2023, La Belle de l'Adriatique was redeployed to the Mediterranean, homeporting in Port Gruz (Dubrovnik, Croatia) for 7-day roundtrip itineraries visiting ports in Greece (including Corfu and Cyprus) and along the Adriatic coast (Croatia, Montenegro, and Albania).
