Review of ms Mistral
MS Mistral ship cruises in Provence and Burgundy (southeast France wine regions). The ship departs from Lyon (on round-trip itineraries) and also from Chalon (on Saone in Burgundy) and Martigues (on Rhone in Provence, approx 30 km / 20 mi northwest of Marseille). The CroisiEurope riverboat Mistral cruises on Rhone and Saone rivers in France - together with the fleetmates Camargue and Van Gogh.
The 7-day cruisetour itinerary visits Lyon, Arle and Avignon, with shore excursions to the Burgundy vineyards and Camargue nature reserve. Prices in 2020 (September) started from EUR 1028 per person / ~USD 1220 pp (double occupancy).
The cruising experience features Beaujolais (Lyon's winegrowing area) visited at the voyage's start - when the boat docks in Macon. A bus tour takes passengers to "Hameau du Vin" (museum village), sailing to Lyon City where Saone River flows into Rhone. Then the boat heads for Tournon-sur-Rhone (Tain l'Hermitage). Follows the Ardeche Gorges Natural Reserve (France's "Grand Canyon"). En-route to Avignon, the cruise ship Mistral passes Rhone River's largest lock system. Follows Arles and Avignon (the old papal city). The voyage ends in Martigues (near Marseille, on the Mediterranean coast).
Following the Coronavirus-related travel restrictions, in 2020 CroisiEurope's Mistral cruises were scheduled to depart August 21-27, September 2-8 and 23-29 and October 5-11. The ship also sailed the reverse route (Martigues to Chalon) on October 11-17. Both voyages are priced from EUR 1028 pp, with ticket prices inclusive of all shore excursions, onboard meals and bar drinks.
The riverboat has 79 passenger cabins (equally sized at 118 ft2 / 11 m2) in 3 grades, including 2 single and 4 triple cabins. Main Deck staterooms (45 double, 4 triple, 1 single) are with Riverview windows (non-opening). Upper Deck cabins (27 double) are with large Picture Windows (also non-opening). The Main Deck also has 1 single-occupancy room. As for amenities, each stateroom has a private bathroom (WC, sink, shower cabin), wardrobe/closet, satellite TV, radio, phone (only for internal calls), hairdryer, personal safe, individual air-conditioning.
The ship's amenities and facilities include a lounge (with a dance floor and its own bar), a dining room (Mistral restaurant), sundeck relaxation area (with shaded seating, loungers, and deckchairs), gift shop, library, complimentary Wi-Fi Internet usage.
The Mistral ship’s Rhone-Saone river cruise itinerary is in southeast France, through the Burgundy and Provence wine regions. The ship is leaving from Lyon on roundtrip itineraries. The provided by CroisiEurope gourmet dining options on the ship, along with the organized tours with themed food and wine tasting events allow the Mistral's guests to enjoy the local French wines and cuisine along the cruise itinerary routes. The CroisiEurope line also owns the Saone-Rhone riverboats Camargue and Van Gogh, and also the hotel barges Anne-Marie and Jeanine.
