CroisiEurope's 2026-built/2027-launched Brasilian Dream cruise ship marked the company's expansion into the South American river cruising market. This houseboat-type cruiser operates voyages on the Amazon and Rio Negro, based on homeporting/round-trip operations from Manaus, Brazil.

RV Brasilian Dream (RV=River Vessel) is listed as a "5-anchor" vessel because it meets CroisiEurope's top-tier luxury and comfort classification. It functions as the wildlife river safari-cruise equivalent of a 5-star rating on land.

Brasilian Dream's houseboat fleetmates are two South Africa-based ships: African Dream (2018) and Zimbabwean Dream (2020).

Note: Although “Brazilian” is the normal English spelling, “Brasilian Dream” is the deliberately adopted ship name. It may look like a linguistic mistake, but CroisiEurope intended "Brasilian" as the name.

RV Brasilian Dream is a 32-passenger luxury vessel designed specifically for expedition-style cruising on the Amazon and its tributaries. Operated by CroisiEurope, the vessel represents a significant departure from the company's conventional European riverboats: The catamaran-based design supports the Amazon basin's shallow-water environment, biodiversity and remote communities.

What is a houseboat cruise ship?

A houseboat cruise ship is a floating vessel that combines the living accommodations of a home with the mobility and navigation capabilities of a riverboat. Houseboat cruisers are designed primarily for leisure cruising on calm inland waterways, including rivers, canals, and lakes.

Unlike larger, higher-capacity river cruise ships, houseboats are typically smaller, slower, and designed for intimate travel on sheltered waterways. They generally feature a flat-bottomed hull and a spacious superstructure, usually arranged over two decks, housing guest staterooms, public facilities, and onboard venues.

Houseboat cruisers are motorized, self-propelled vessels capable of navigating between different anchorages under their own power. Modern cruising houseboats offer a range of comfortable amenities, including air conditioning throughout, spacious accommodations, and open-air areas such as sun decks.

Decks and Cabins

The premium houseboat Brasilian Dream has 16 spacious staterooms with double occupancy, accommodating a maximum of 32 passengers, and is served by 15 staff and crew members.

The ship has 5 decks (2 with cabins) and 16 passenger staterooms, all of which have step-out balconies. The largest accommodations are the forward-facing Canopee Suites (56 m2 / 600 ft2). The remaining 14 rooms (Amazonia Cabins) have identical layouts, and each measures 35 m2 (375 ft2).

All passenger accommodations are exterior/with panoramic views, individual air-conditioning (thermostat-controlled), 220V electrical supply, interactive TVs, Wi-Fi coverage (throughout), digital safe box, ensuite bathrooms (single-sink vanity, shower, hairdryer, luxury bath amenities).

Shipboard facilities

RV Brasilian Dream has a midship staircase connecting all decks. All indoor areas are air-conditioned.

With only 32 guests, Brasilian Dream is closer to a luxury expedition yacht than to a conventional European river cruise ship. The travel experience centers on premium accommodations, intimate social spaces and evening gatherings, panoramic viewing, naturalist-led land tours and cruising on smaller excursion boats, local cultural encounters, quality enrichment programming (expert lectures and media presentations).

The ship's principal Restaurant/Dining Room (2nd floor) serves all meals, which, together with all beverages (except select/special-list beverages), are generally included in the fares. The culinary concept is regional, emphasizing Brazilian/Amazonian influences.

The Conference Room (2nd floor) is used for lectures and presentations. The Bar Lounge (5th floor) is the principal indoor space for entertainment, socializing, and evening events. Naturalist briefings (port talks) and interpretations are the core part of CroisiEurope's Amazon product.

Forward on Deck 2 is the wellness complex consisting of SPA (treatment rooms for massages), GYM (fitness room), and a forward Sun Deck (open-air area) with padded loungers and 3 Jacuzzis.

The Upper Sun Deck (5th floor) is arguably the principal outdoor observation area and the ship's most important "venue". It emphasises panoramic observation, wildlife spotting, sunset viewing, informal outdoor socializing, a small swimming pool with sunbathing (padded sun loungers and deckchairs), and simply enjoying the unique riverside scenery.

Ship technology, design and concept

Brasilian Dream's most important characteristic is that it was designed around the Amazon rather than adapted to it. The catamaran design (twin-hull configuration) was specifically chosen to minimize the boat's impact on riverbeds. It allowed the combination of a relatively wide superstructure with a shallow-draft hull. The ship also incorporates sustainable materials, low-carbon engines, solar panels, energy-saving technologies, and a modern water-treatment plant.

The catamaran hull allows an unusually high width-to-length ratio (~0.31), giving the ship considerable stability and allowing generous outdoor observation areas despite the tiny passenger complement.

Solar panels are integrated into the vessel's power system, providing clean supplementary electricity, reducing dependence on the main (diesel) generators for hotel/auxiliary loads.

CroisiEurope Amazon cruisetours and itineraries

CroisiEurope's Amazon cruisetours have a wildlife and expedition character. The itineraries are designed around observation of pink dolphins, macaws, monkeys, caimans, sloths, iguanas, exotic birds, flooded forest, floating villages, and interactions with indigenous tribes.

All voyages include naturalist guides/lecturers, rainforest walks, community encounters, and river excursions by smaller boats.

CroisiEurope's 2026-developed Amazon cruise program is considerably broader than the original 3-itinerary concept announced in 2025. The 2027 itineraries include Amazon/Rio Negro, Tapajos, Brazil-Colombia river expeditions, and cruise+land combinations incorporating Rio de Janeiro and Iguacu Falls

Brasilian Dream's principal itinerary is the 11-day "Along the Amazon & the Rio Negro". The Upper Amazon route is round-trip from Manaus, featuring navigation on Rio Negro (the world's largest blackwater river and Amazon's largest left tributary), the famous Meeting of the Waters/Encontro das Aguas in Manaus (where the dark Rio Negro and the sandy-colored Rio Solimoes meet without immediately mixing), and Lake Janauaca (a major floodplain lake system on the Solimoes River's southern side). The cruising distance is approximately 800 km/500 mi.

The itinerary is particularly strong for wildlife viewing and rainforest excursions, and is best for first-time Amazon travelers who want the actual river experience without adding long land extensions.

The 11-day "Gentle Amazon and Tapajos River" itinerary runs the Manaus-Santarem route (and the reverse, Santarem to Manaus), visiting Parintins, Obidos, Santarem, Ponta Grande, Urucuree Bay, Maguari, Jamaraqua, and Alter do Chao, before ending in Santarem. The cruising distance is approximately 1000 km/620 mi.

The voyage transitions from the main Amazon around Manaus toward Santarem and the Tapajos, where the landscape changes dramatically. The key attraction is Alter do Chao, famous for its white-sand beaches and clear waters. The itinerary also incorporates indigenous communities and smaller destinations (Maguari and Jamaraqua) and is best for travelers who want a combination of rainforest, riverside villages and Amazonian beaches.

The 11-day "Cruise in the Heart of the Original Amazon" itinerary runs the route Manaus-Tabatinga (and the reverse from Tabatinga to Manaus) and features navigation on Amazon/Solimoes, Mamiraua Lake (protected flooded-forest ecosystem), visiting Terra Nova Island (morning departures via small motorized boats from the ship to explore the channels and islands surrounding Fonte Boa) and Tabatinga (in the "Three Frontiers" region where Brazil, Colombia, and Peru meet). This expedition-oriented voyage heads west toward Tabatinga, taking the ship deep into the upper Amazon/Solimoes system. The itinerary's highlights are indigenous communities, ancestral traditions, and encountering unique wildlife. It is best for experienced travelers who prioritize wilderness and expedition-style exploration over beaches and conventional sightseeing.

The 14-day "Rio de Janeiro and a Cruise Along the Amazon and the Rio Negro" itinerary runs the route Rio de Janeiro-Manaus, combining Rio de Janeiro (a 4-star hotel stay, with included meals and excursions) with the Amazon cruise (roundtrip from Manaus).

The 14-day "Along the Amazon and the Rio Negro with Iguazu Falls" package is a cruisetour combining the Manaus roundtrip cruise with air travel to Foz do Iguacu (a 5-star hotel stay). After the cruise returns to Manaus, guests fly to Foz do Iguacu for an extended land stay and visits to the Iguacu Falls.

The 17-day "The Gentle Amazon and the Tapajos River" cruisetour itinerary is CroisiEurope's full Brazilian combination. It runs the route from Rio de Janeiro to Foz do Iguacu, combining the Manaus round-trip river cruise with two land extensions, domestic flights, and hotel stays (in Rio de Janeiro and Foz do Iguacu).
